The Sonshiner KIDs Sunday School Class

This past week in the Sonshiner KID's ZONE our Sonshiners learned about a man Daniel. Daniel was a hero because he was willing to stand up for God and do what was right no matter what the cost! We talked about times at home and at school when it is hard to make good decisions, and when we sometimes need to speak out for what is right. The story of Daniel is about a man that was willing to obey God even if it could have cost him his life! He refused to follow the wrong crowd. How about you? Do you follow God and do what you know is right, or do you choose to do what YOU want to do or what everyone else is doing? We explored this topic in our Sunday school class this week.

This past week in the KID’s Zone our Sonshiners class learned that God wants us to try and make good choices. He wants us to listen and obey Him - even when obeying is hard. One way we obey God is by obeying our parents and teachers. God helps us to know the difference between what is right and wrong. He has also given us the Bible to help us know how to live. We obey God when we do what we know is right. During our group time, we heard a true story about a man in the Bible n...amed Jonah. God asked Jonah to go to the town of Ninevah and bring them an important message. However, Jonah decided not to obey God. He made the wrong choice! Jonah knew that he had done wrong and later decided to make the right choice and follow God's directions! This week we learned about a man named Jonah and how he learned (the hard way) why it is so important to obey God.

NOAH This past week in the Sonshiner KID's ZONE our Sonshiners learned about a man named Noah. Noah was willing to obey God and build an ark even though his friends were teasing him and thought he was crazy for doing such a thing. Noah could have been mad with God because he had to spend so much of his life building the ark and even lost his friends in the big storm. But Noah chose to praise God for keeping him safe. Because Noah continued to obey God, God was pleased with No...ah. And God is pleased with us when we obey Him, too -- even when obeying is hard to do. This week we heard the story of Noah and how he listened AND obeyed God even when God was asking him to do what seemed like an impossible task.

This past week in the Sonshiner KID's ZONE our Sonshiners learned that PEOPLE are God's most special creation and that we are all wonderfully made by God! We talked about times when friends may say things that don't always make us feel special, but God loves us even when we don't feel loved. He even loved us before we were born, and he made each person unique. God loves us so much that He knows our name, and even knows the number of hairs we have on our head!! We also were r...eminded that we must not judge others just because they look different or are not able to do the same things as we can do. God made them, too, and they are also God’s masterpieces! We watched a short story called, "Same Difference". This was a story about 2 first cousins that were practically the same in many ways. They had the same interests and likes, and were together all the time. But they found themselves at odds with each other over their physical differences. With the help of their wise grandmother, the girls soon realized that their bond was deeper than what they saw and that their differences were what made them beautiful. The color of our skin, what we look like, and the country we came from should never affect the love we have for each other. God loves everyone the same because HE created us just as we are. This week we discovered the evidence that God has given us to show that we are his most special creation and we are treasured by God! We are God's masterpieces!

This past week in the Sonshiner KID's ZONE our Sonshiners learned that it was GOD that created us, and He loves us very much! He wants us to be His friend, and to worship Him. He also has given us a very important job -- to care for all that He has created! We also heard the story of Adam and Eve. In this story, we learned that God made people to love as well as for people to love him back. In addition, he gave people the job of caring for his world. In our Bible story, A...dam and Eve made a very big mistake and disobeyed God. Although their disobedience brought about some very real consequences, God continued to love them. He continues to love us as well. (Look for more stories in the coming weeks to see how God shows his love to others!) We had a very special visitor this week! This week we learned that God's most special creation is people! We learned about the first 2 people named Adam and Eve. One day these 2 people made a big mistake and disobeyed God. Although they suffered consequences for their actions, God still loved them and he loves US even though we make mistakes, too.

This week we learned that it was God that created all the animals. We also discovered that God took great care in how he designed them. Animals would play an important part in the lives of God's next creation -- people.

GOD CREATED THE PLANTS AND TREES This past week in the Sonshiner KID's ZONE our Sonshiners learned that it was GOD that created the plants and trees! We will be continuing to learn more about the things God created throughout the month of September.... After our lesson, we took a look at some very unusual plants that God has made. Some of the flowers looked like monkeys, dancing girls, Darth Vader, and even ballerinas! Other plants were sensitive to touch. We saw leaves that began to fold when they were touched, and a plant that actually eats bugs! God created so many wonderful things for us to enjoy.
