Our 4th graders enjoyed their Narnia Party by drinking hot tea, eating Turkish delights, and tea sandwiches while watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Sonrise is blessed to have Mrs. Lehnhard, who we consider to be the world's best librarian! This year, Mrs. Lehnhard faithfully carts books to classrooms so that students can grow their reading and reach their Accelerated Reader goals. Did you know that we have a real-time widget on the footer of our website that updates the number of books and words our students have read as well as how many average minutes per day students read? While most schools have closed their library during the pandemic, Mrs. Lehnhard has elevated our reading program to new heights.

Today's Wayback Wednesday takes us back to March 4th, 1993 and the dedication of our kindergarten playground that was called "Our Town." Students loved the realistic structures that offered a town-like setting for them to play on "Main Street" and "Maple Way." Our Town included a church, a post office, dentistry, and a fire station among others. Pictured are former Sonrise teachers addressing an eager group of kindergartners, first, and second graders who were ready to start playing.

Students at Sonrise enjoy the Accelerated Reader program because they can read books based on their reading levels, improve their reading, track their progress, reach goals, and earn awards. These fun stats offer a glimpse of what students have collectively achieved so far this year. Great job, Sonrise!

I was recently asked to select the Bible verse to focus on for our school year. As I prayed and asked God for His insight into what He planned for Sonrise, James 1:12 boldly came to mind and heart: "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him." I truly believe that Sonrise has not only persevered, but we have faithfully followed God's lead in providing... what is necessary for your children to continue growing in every way possible. I know God is so pleased with the way our families, students and staff have trusted and loved Him. -Mr. Patel, Head of School While the requirements to facilitate a Christian education have become rigorous, we have adapted and exceeded the criteria by strengthening our facilities, adopting the safest protocols, and reinforcing our strong educational standards. Sonrise Christian School is extremely proud of the 8th Grade Graduating Class of 2020. Through the challenges of the end of the year, these students have continued to work diligently as they prepare for high school. We love the Sonrise class of 2020!

It's Time Flies Tuesday! We are honoring and congratulating our Sonrise alumni graduating HS seniors, Class of 2020! Time flies when you're having fun! Miss Virgie shares about having a fear of the unknown, but God is our peace and always will be with us. "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
