This morning on my run I noticed discomfort along the left side of my body. I had tension in my wrist, a cramp in my Rectus Abdominus & Obliques, something going on with Gracilis on the inside of my knee, in addition to a small pain in the arch of my foot (most likely Abductor Hallicus since it’s given me troubles in the past). it was weird to me that these were occurring simultaneously... Shortly after conveying these discomforts to my boyfriend, who was running a few pa...ces behind me, he said that my left foot was flaring out to the side Say whaaaaat?! A light bulb went offI immediately brought my attention to the sole of my foot. Which spots were hitting the pavement? How do I balance that out? Ok, how’s my knee reacting? Oh shoot, now my hip feels funny. Just give it a sec to adjust... okay wow, the cramp in my side disappeared. What about my wrist? After all that internal dialogue I asked, Is that better? His response was Yea! Thank goodness because it sure did feel better! It reminded me of how intricately everything is connected in our bodies; how our feet really are our foundation & how important it is to take care of that foundation. So I came home & rolled out my feet with my favorite tool: a Yoga Tune Up ball! I love how they softly, yet firmly, conform to my arch without sending pain signals through my body. They’re comfortable & effective, kinda like #barefootmassage Okay, nothing really compares to barefoot massage, but you get my drift. The last two months have really given me the opportunity to get back into my body. In that time, CA has re-opened & shortly after re-closed the massage industry. I feel the weight of the world inside my body, not just physically but mentally & emotionally as well. I battle with wanting to get back to workhelping people live their best livesand upholding a high ethical standard of doing no harm to those I help, which is of the utmost importance to me. The struggle is real..., as they say. Yoga has always helped me feel calm & get my body closer to feeling balanced. In this video I mostly focus on gentle spinal movements to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system while easing my body back into movement. Of the many things I’m grateful for, one of them is living so close to the water. Breathing the salty air, hearing the sound of the waves , seeing dolphins , & watching surfers wipe out are just a few of the things that really bring me joy lately What brings you joy?
