Here, we highlight the key provisions for student loans and housing Federal student loan payments postponed through September... Payments on direct federal loans have been postponed through September 30, 2021. Monthly payments do not have to be made, and any interest will be waived. To learn more about what qualifies as a direct federal loan, check out our guide to student loan relief. California eviction protections are extended through June California just passed new legislation extending eviction protection through June 30, 2021 for renters impacted by COVID-19. As part of this new plan, federal funds will also be used to pay a portion of back rent for eligible Californians. Nationally, there’s also new foreclosure protection for certain government-backed mortgages. Check California.gov for more info.
