Join us in Old Sacramento now till November 2nd to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. We have once again partnered with Sacramento History Museum and Tours, Maquilli Tonatiuh Aztec Dancers and numerous community groups and artists to create altars and installations that can be viewed throughout Old Sacramento! Dia de los Muertos is celebrated on November 1st, and 2nd by preparing altars to welcome the souls of the loved ones who have passed away. The altars contain food, flowers, candles, candy, sugar skulls, and other things the deceased enjoyed while alive. It is a celebration of life, an occasion to remember our loved ones that are no longer with us.

While we won’t know the full results for weeks in all likelihood, election night will still be a stressful time for many. So, here are 10 ways to care for yourself ahead of time: . 1. Create a small text/virtual support pod with loved ones who have the capacity to be there for you come election night. . 2. Purchase groceries ahead of time for sustenance the night of and day after so you can take stress off of your future self.... . 3. Sit down with family and/or friends to come up with an achievable plan of action depending on the results so you limit feelings of helplessness . 4. Don’t get caught up in the media’s statistical projections. You can go to bed early; most likely the results will take days or weeks to come. . 5. Breathe. Be mentally prepared for results to be indefinitely inaccurate or contested. There is a history of this. Remember the term voter fraud is already being laid out and put on standby in the case of certain election results. We may be in this for the long haul. Breathe. . 6. Create a space for yourself to invest in your mental/physical care, perhaps a meditation space indoors, a seat outside that serves as a no phone zone, or have accessories on hand for a bath. . 7. Have sleep aids like melatonin, valerian, magnesium, etc. handy in case you need help sleeping! . 8. If you are a parent, think about how you may need to have a conversation with your children about what the next four years might mean and allow them to feel that they can engage in their own forms of activism, from writing letters to joining protests . 9. Make a Do Not Disturb sign for your house or room to set privacy boundaries while you process . 10. Do nothing at all. See more
