Playdough Surgery - Cesarean Delivery . Our little guy just had a birthday (the big 4!), and we reminisced about the eventful, unexpected day he arrived and ...the flurry of amazing people involved with getting him here safely. . In our next case, a small superhero was born by Cesarean delivery (yes I know it was actually a radioactive spider). . Superheroes are a common topic in our home these days. We talked about how being a superhero isn’t just about having super powers or abilities - heroes are made by using whatever power they have to help others, often at expense of much sacrifice and risk to themselves. To the OB/GYNs and FM/OBs who use their superpowers for their mamas and miracle babies (alongside a team of midwives, L&D staff!) - you are all heroes . Subscribe to watch our other playdough surgeries on my Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7J5njZ1UHnmKLuNSToKkUQ . . . Have you ever wondered what a breastfeed looks like? Our Breastfeeding Peer Supporter Nicky has kindly made this video to help explain what a breastfeed looks l...ike. Lots of mums tell us they worry about breastfeeding because they can’t see what their baby is getting. It is very rare that a mum won’t make enough milk for her baby. So although you can’t see what is going in there are others ways to can tell if your baby is feeding well. Take a look at their nappy!! We have attached a simple check list, but if you have any worries please contact the Health Visitor Service desk on 03003045076 Monday-Friday Peer supporter helpline over the weekend 07920466660 Your body is amazing it has the ability to make milk for your baby that is unique to them. Your breast milk is packed with antibodies that will help your baby fight infection. Breastfeeding in public after the quarantine. Sure thing! Getting out and about? What if my baby wants to eat? How do I do it? Should I cover myself or not?... What if someone is watching me? What if someone tells me not to do it!? Trust yourself and your baby, feel comfortable and confident about it.. and yes, sometimes it requires practice! Breastfeeding in public is YOUR right. So enjoy the great benefit from it, it’s ready to eat! Eat local! You will help socially to accept and normalize breastfeeding. And... REMEMBER! Covering or not, that’s YOUR decision, not from who’s next to you and watching. Dar el pecho en público tras la cuarentena. Claro que sí! Salir de casa y que el bebé quiera comer? Cómo lo hago? Me cubro o no? Y si alguien me mira o me dicen algo? #bestfeedingwithmaria #breastfeedinginpublic #afterthequarentine #brestfeeding #normalizebreastfeeding #latch #deeplatch #milksupply #exclusivelybreastfeeding #firsttimemom #motherhood #parenthood #parenting #rolemodel #postpartum #thebestdailyimmunization #breastfeedingjourney Look for #breastfeedinghelp and keep going! #lactanciaenpublico #lactando #lactanciasinmitos #lactanciasindolor #lactanciamaternaexclusiva #agarreprofundo #maternidadreal #lactanciamaterna #normalizandolalactanciamaterna #posparto #postparto #lamejorvacunadiaria

Who else loves nurse-midwives as much as I do? Well, they currently need our support. Here is a note about a bill they are trying to pass in CA: CNMA was unsure... if the Senate would continue to push bills forward, but it appears our bill is being prioritized by Senator Dodd as critical during the pandemic. SB 1237 will be heard in Committee on 5/18. The Deadline for letters of support is 5/11!! I would be very grateful if you could send a letter of support. We’ve tried to streamline the process by creating google documents. Please go to cnma.org/sb1237 where you will find google docs for organizations, physicians, and individuals. Signing the letter should only take a moment but will hopefully make the difference in our ongoing struggle. See also our factsheet below. We also need anyone who lives or works in Senator Glazer’s district to reach out to him via phone or email/letter to ask for his support. He is the Committee Chair and it will not move without his support. His district map is below. Orinda, Danville, Livermore, etc. (In comments)

I know a lot of people have had their childbirth classes canceled recently due to coronavirus. This means that you might miss out on a helpful preparation for your upcoming birth. Because of this, the Solano Doula Group has decided to host FREE virtual classes on different topics to prepare for the arrival of your upcoming baby. The first class will be this coming Sunday and covers the different stages of labor so that you have a better understanding of the process. Please join us by going to the event and joining the group that we have made especially for this. Looking forward to helping parents prepare.
