This class focuses on "hot snow" problems: Loose wet, Wet slabs, Cornice fall and Glide avalanches. Spring skiing typically presents different avalanche problems than winter skiing. In this mini class we'll discuss the typical avalanche problems encountered in spring skiing, including location, observations and management strategies for each type. You'll learn: -What are the hot snow problems? -Where are they located in the terrain? -Where are they located in the snowpack? -What observations are relevant to each problem? -How widely do these problems propagate? -What triggers these avalanche problems? -What causes these problems to "heal"? -What to do with all this information While no experience is required, it is advised to have a basic knowledge of the nine avalanche problem types.
