This little guy seems pretty confused by the sudden appearance of a solid surface! It's ok, so are we.

Beautiful fall morning in Mammoth Lakes. The word is, get out and exercise this morning. Winds are supposed to shift again later today which means the smoke will be back! Enjoy while you can.

No forests open in Mammoth? No problem! Escape to Virginia Lakes, less than an hour north. Toiyabe-Humbolt Forests are OPEN. Clean air, great hiking, fall color, paddleboarding, fishing, whatever. Hopefully we get good news about Inyo National Forest this Wednesday. Please, please, please open!!!!!

Well, this is a first! In 32 years at this office I have never seen 2 Snowy Egrets and 2 Great Blue Herons roosting in trees by the back pond at Snowcreek. The Herons are in the taller tree to the right. Theses fires are no doubt making the wildlife very confused.

This may look really dreary, but we have never been so happy to see it rain! Douse those fires!!!!!!
