One of the joys of my life is giving back and showing grace to and for the community that raised me, taught me about commitment and dedication, and believed in me. Being raised in South Los Angeles inspired me to do better and be better. Family, Community Neighbors, Teachers, Professors demanded I focus on my future, not what were my present circumstances. I’ve had the awesome blessing to work with some of the most visible people in the world; Beyonce, Jay Z, President and M...rs. Obama, General Patreas, Tommy Hilfiger, Zendaya, Kim Kimble just to name a few. I’ve travelled and worked in almost every country in the world. But, the most thrilling professional honor is coming home to open a family restaurant (in my old neighborhood) and work side-by-side with my mom, family and community. @Tasteofsoulla is the icing on the cake as we conclude our first year in business. My bi-coastal lifestyle is a new phenomenon, but what an absolutely amazing way to celebrate the one year anniversary of @smokintellesbbqandgrill . Surrounded by community love, awesome people, wonderful food, amazing music, community services, and the opportunity to say, thank you for propelling me and my black girl dreams into the stratosphere. We humbly thank you for embracing us, supporting us, providing constructive feedback to make us better, traveling from near and far, sitting and chatting with us, dropping in to say hello, texting, yelping, facebooking, instagramming. All that you’ve done to help us reach this milestone is so very appreciated. You still inspire me and remind me focus, commitment and dedication are the gold standard.
