In roughly 7 years we have hired 6 firefighters. 5 of them have now left to other fire departments. Brennen Dorsey (middle right) recently accepted a job with Los Angeles county fire department. We wish him the best of luck, but we are deeply saddened by our departments new unfortunate reality.
Another sad day for your San Marino Firefighters. Curtis Basaker (middle left) worked his last shift with San Marino today after accepting an offer with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Curtis was a joy to work with and was one of those guys you really hoped wouldn’t leave. Curtis is now the 4th new hire we have lost to an outside agency over just this past year... As much as we hate to lose an employee of this caliber, we understand and support his decision to leave and wish him the very best of luck in his new position. Congratulations Curtis!
Thank you Butterbean Bakeshop for the delicious cookies!
It is bittersweet to announce the retirement of Firefighter/ Paramedic Russell Wilcox. Russ started with the city in 1996, and served his whole career with a big smile on his face and a loving heart. Russ was the type of person that everyone loved being around, and he will be immensely missed by all of us. We wish him well as he transitions into his new teaching role at the Summit Leadership Academy. Those students couldn’t ask for a better teacher, mentor and role model. Thank you Verdugo Dispatch for giving Russ a great send off. Tim Chow Christopher L. It’s official, the San Marino Fire Department is losing another one of our valued members. Kirk Batterson (middle left) has accepted a job offer with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Kirk, you were a joy to work with and we will all miss your presence here. We wish you the best of luck with the county! Kirk is the third firefighter we’ve lost in the last year to an outside agency. Sadly, and as anticipated, our fire department has become a revolving door of new employees...
Thank you Performance Kitchen for Bringing some joy to us by dropping off these awesome healthy meals! And thank you Hyperice for generously donating one of your percussion therapy guns! We hope that everyone is staying safe through these uncertain times. We are working hard to stay updated on the latest protocols and to provide everyone with the highest level of service.
We have the best residents! Thank you Peyton and CJ For the much needed disinfectant supplies.

Holiday Stroll and collecting toys!
Today was a bittersweet day for the San Marino Fire Department, as we lost yet another valuable member of our team to a surrounding agency. Firefighter/Paramedic Eric Gashi has moved on to begin a new journey with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Eric is the second Firefighter/Paramedic we have lost in the past month, with two more expected to leave in the early half of next year. Eric, while we will miss your friendship, professionalism, and experience, we wish you nothing but the best in this new undertaking. We all know this was the best decision for you and your family and we couldn’t be happier for you! Good luck, friend!
