SLVMS: Hello SLVMS Families, Traditionally, SLVMS has a Winter Carnival fundraiser on the last day of school before winter break. Participating students set up booths to sell various food items, crafts, games, and more. This is a fundraiser for the Valley Christmas Project (VCP), which supports our local SLV/SV families in need during the holidays - the students who have booths split their revenue with VCP. Of course, this year we can't do the Winter Carnival, but we can s...till support the Valley Christmas Project. Students typically spend between $5-$15 during the carnival, and we donate $2.000 - $2,500 after the winter carnival to The Valley Christmas Project each year. We also do a canned food drive during December, and the donations are brought to the Valley Christmas Project. and we usually have around 2000 canned food items to donate. If your family is able, we'd love to encourage you to donate directly to The Valley Christmas Project this year, as they are supporting many more families than in recent years. Here is the link with the various ways to donate: https://vcum.org/donors/become-a-donor/. Sincerely, Claire Hackett Activities Director SLV Middle School

SLVUSD: Nature Academy: Mobiles Inspired by Alexander Calder Students gathered personal items to represent things that are important to them. They then balanced them on a mobile, learning about forces and fulcrums. A tiny ballerina, a swim metal, an uncle who passed away fishing lure, a feather to represent their love of nature. The bigger objective of the project is to serve as a reminder to keep BALANCE in life and make time for the things that matter most.
