Squidles' Littles Learning Academy Daycare 03.11.2020

Hi I’m Ms. Sydney! Owner/Provider at Squidles’ Littles Learning Academy. I am also mom to the beautiful, talented, and wicked smart Madilynn Rose. I have worked with kids for nearly 2 decades now and have loved every minute of the crazy beautiful chaos of it all. Since high school I knew I wanted to help be a supportive foundation for children in some capacity, and now at 31yrs old, I have kickstarted my dream! . I have the CLEAREST vision of what I want SLLA Daycare to gr...ow to be, with its main mission always being to help encourage, empower, and empathize with the families in my community, by providing loving, supportive, encouraging, screen free family style care to ages 3mo - 12yrs. And including amenities like Free Movie Night for parents to take a date night or catch up on sleep or you know, go the bathroom alone. HaHa! I work hard to keep pricing equal or less than our city averages & I believe learning to express your feelings is as important as learning our ABC’s and 123’s. . I am currently Large Family Daycare. With 3 amazing aides eager and excited to be a part of the team! Be sure to read more about them below! I have a feeling you will adore them just as much as I do. See more

Everyone please welcome Ms. Karina We are so excited to be adding Ms. Karina to the SLLA family. She brings 5 years experience working with children, and most recently as a preschool teacher. I know our littles are going to adore her. Read below for a little more about her. . Hello everyone, my name is Karina. I am 24 years of age and I grew up in beautiful Somoma County. When I’m not working, if I’m not crafting I’m probably going on hikes with my dog and significan...t other at taylor mountain or sugar loaf. Im really excited to be joining in all the fun with you guys. I have always believed it is up to the educator to foster an environment where a child can grow and be creative. It is important for children to feel safe and encouraged in order to grow in any environment. I do everything within my power to personalize every interaction so they have the opportunity to express themselves freely and unabashed. Love and patience are key to facilitate a positive learning environment. I am confident I can help uphold the beliefs we all deem necessary for your children to have a safe and nurturing place to grow and have fun while doing so.

A kind reminder this Holiday Season, Setting boundaries at a young age or any age is not rude. It is one of the most helpful skills in life, and important to teach as young as possible so they have more time to practice setting them. That being said, if you feel like you "need" these pictures or 'perfect' behavior, here are some tips: > Give your child a tour of the home you visit so they know where the restrooms are or quite rooms that are appropriate to have "me time" in an...d escape from the crowd when/if they need. > Screen-Time is not as much of a friend as you may feel. It can overstimulate your child in an already loud setting, and may cause issues when trying to have them put it away for family time/meal time. Bring a multiplayer game that's age appropriate or some cars/blocks/dolls they can engage in with any other aged person. >Want that sweet family photo? Talk to your child before the event. Let them know you are hoping to get one big family picture, and gauge their feelings on this. When it's time for a picture, ask them if they want to join and point out a familiar family member or offer to stand with them. >Pictures are a fun way to remember events, but are mainly a social media "need" and not always an individual need. If you want your child to remember family members and times they had with them. Take individual pictures of family members and have your child write about that member and what they did that time together. This will spark a memory just as wonderfully as a picture together. >Another picture option could be getting a Polaroid camera and letting your kid take the pictures they want. They may get individual family member pictures or group pictures or even pictures of themselves with family. And who doesn't love the magic of a Polaroid? >Want your kids to mingle and engage with everyone? Create a scavenger hunt of questions to find answers to about family members. (Does uncle Bob have any pets? - Who is cousin Rita's Mom and Dad? - etc.) This can be a fun way to slowly warm them up on their own terms. > Is your kid acting up? Take a second away from food and family and go have a little one on one time with them. Escape to a quite room and check in with them. Read a book together. Laugh together and go back to the party when you are ready. Most importantly, ENJOY this holiday season together. Pictures and perfect attitudes aren't what dictate a wonderful holiday together.
