Today we are grateful to have finalized an $84,000 settlement for a kindergarten teacher hit by an intoxicated driver going the wrong way on the freeway. Luckily this strong and patient woman walked away with only soft-tissue injuries and no need for injections or surgical intervention. 10 Step Checklist After an Auto Accident Be safe out there L.A.!!! With the biggest storm since 2011 hitting the City of Angels tomorrow morning, it is important to know what to do in the event of a car accident...here is a simple 10-step plan of immediate action following an auto collision: 1. Stay calm. Breathe. You may be in shock and we don't make good decisions when we panic.... 2. Make sure that you and your passengers have not suffered an injury requiring immediate medical treatment. If you need immediate medical attention, call 9-1-1. 3. If you are not too injured to move, and your vehicle is drivable, get out of the way of traffic. Pull over to the closest place that is not on the street or highway. Turn on your hazard lights. 4. Call the police. No matter what. 5. Take photos. First of the license plate of the other vehicle(s). Then the damage to your vehicle and other vehicles. Then insurance information of other parties. 6. Get contact information from any witnesses to the accident. DO NOT MAKE ANY STATEMENTS OR ADMISSIONS OF FAULT. You are probably not an expert on auto collisions. Leave that to the police. 7. Get your car towed to a safe place. 8. Contact your auto insurance company. 9. Seek medical treatment with an urgent care, emergency room, or your primary care physician. 10. Call an experienced attorney for a consultation. It should be free of charge. Please drive safely this weekend LA...
