2020 has not been kind to most of us, and Mount Wilson Observatory is no exception. A few weeks ago, the Bobcat Fire was within a few feet of the historic obser...vatory, nearly burning down the famed 100-inch telescope used by Edwin Hubble. Fortunately the structure (and the scopes!) were saved, but the building took on extensive smoke damage, and without the ability to host events due to the pandemic, their hopes of financial recovery are dire. What we love most about astronomy isn't the expensive equipment or impressive pictures, but the tight-knit community that comes together over a shared love of the night sky. Seeing astronomers across the world come together to help a historic observatory in our own backyard is truly remarkable. https://laist.com//Mount-wilson-crowdfunding-damage-bobcat

Seeing as it's... an asteroid named in our honor, we want to see your images of the asteroid! Leave any images you capture in the comments below. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?feature=7752
