We all know what crow’s feet are. There are 3 causes for this very common eye problem: 1) The constant action of the eye area muscles when we smile and squint. 2) The loss of elasticity and collagen in the skin, mostly from skin damage. 3) The loss of underlying supportive tissue like fat, muscle and bone. ... In response, there are 3 major ways to treat them, based off the cause: 1) Botox/Dysport treats the first cause for crow’s feet. By weakening the muscles that cause the repetitive movements around the eye, it enables the skin to relax and smooths out the crows feet, and occasionally eliminates them if they are not too deep. 2) Laser treatments can provide longer-term results for your crow’s feet. LONG -WAVE lasers stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. The results here can be good, but you’ll need patience and a series of three to five treatments. FRACTIONAL lasers, which also stimulate your body’s natural collagen production, also helps repair sun damage. They are more expensive than the long-wave lasers but are MORE EFFECTIVE and better if your crow’s feet are moderate to deeper. 3) RESURFACING lasers (my favorite) (CO2 and erbium YAG) remove an entire layer of skin in a very precise manner. They can produce excellent results with as little as one treatment for seriously sun damaged skin and deeper crow’s feet. Usually the whole face needs to be done to avoid the raccoon look.
