Today we’d like to showcase another local favorite we helped design in the growing East Chester area. Dot X Ott is a farm to table restaurant and market serving and incredible culinary experience of lunch and dinner. Their menu is straight from their farm while their market offers locally curated goods, grocery staples, beer, wine, and produce. All of the staff are the friendliest people and the quality of the food really shows. If you looking for a spot for lunch in the East Chester area, take a look at Dot X Ott! You won’t be disappointed! @ Dot x Ott

@colliers_centralcal is participating in Toys 4 Tots this year and they are accepting gifts to be donated to children that are less fortunate during the holiday season. We decided to order books from Jennifer Gardiner who has illustrated and authored her first children’s book, A Trip Around the Pond.

Architecture has always been a very idealistic profession. It’s about making the world a better place, and it works over the generations because people go on vacation and they look for it. Born on February 28th 1929 in Toronto, Canada; Frank Gehry started his life being creative. His grandmother would encourage him to build small imaginary cities out of scrap wood, he would spend time drawing with his father, and got into art with his mother. After trying out a couple thing...s in college, Gehry eventually landed in some architecture classes which led him to graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from USC in 1954. While Gehry had many major projects though the years, one of those was the Walt Disney Concert Hall is Los Angeles, CA. The project started in 1987 and 4 years later, Gehry completed the design work. With some delays and lack of funding getting in the way, the project was fully completed in 2003 and had an estimated cost of $274,000,000 including the parking garage. The Walt Disney Concert Hall is an amazing building that can be walked all around and explored and is definitely an amazing spot to check out. @ Walt Disney Concert Hall See more

Today would like to showcase an awesome brewery we designed here in town; Temblor Brewing Company! But just because it’s a brewery doesn’t mean it’s not anything more Temblor is a full-on restaurant for family and friends, an event center for live music and performances, as well as a place to simply kick back for a drink. If you’re looking for something to do this week, head out there! You won’t be disappointed. @ Temblor Brewing Company

I hate vacations. If you can build buildings, why sit on the beach? Born in Cleveland Ohio in 1906, Philip Johnson was an architect mostly famous for his modern and postmodern style. Johnson joined the architecture department of the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1930. After 6 years Johnson briefly left the museum to get involved in journalism and politics. In 1941 Johnson abandoned his venture in journalism and politics to enroll in the Harvard Graduate School of Desi...gn. One of his postmodern buildings was 550 Madison Avenue. With his partner John Burgee, the tower was completed in 1984. It started life as the AT&T building, exchanged hands to Sony, and was finally sold to Olayan and Chelsfield for $1.1 billion. Despite efforts to preserve the original architecture, demolition of the ground floor lobby began in 2018. 6 months later the building was unanimously voted to become a New York City landmark. @ 550 Madison Avenue See more

Bakersfield’s famous, Fox Theater officially opened its doors on December 25th, 1930 and was home to many motion pictures, live events, and evenings out. The Fox did have to close the doors from 1977 to 1994. Thanks to the community and hundreds of donors, the theater began restoration and reopening. To this day The Fox remains open and used every day in the heart of downtown. If you look at this photo closely, you might realize that it isn’t an actual photo but a computer rendering! Thanks to the amazing skills of our own Rich Cheney and Eric Gutierrez, this 3D model has taken life under the stars of downtown Bakersfield! @ Downtown Bakersfield

I am eyewitness to the ways in which people relate to themselves and to each other, and my work is a way of scooping and ladling that experience. Born in Vienna in 1892, Richard Neutra, after time serving in World War 1, moved to the United States in 1923 and became a naturalized citizen in 1929. Neutra was famous for his modern residential design and his attention to detail when trying to find the needs of his clients. At times he would even have them fill out detailed que...stionnaires! One of his many iconic projects is the Kaufmann house in Palm Springs, California. The home was originally meant as a vacation home for the Kaufmann family. The home was completed in 1947, but through the years the house grew closer and closer to disrepair due to the disregard of other owners. Thankfully, a couple has since restored the house to its original luster and is now considered an architectural landmark from the 20th century. @ Palm Springs, California See more
