Hi EOP My name is Mathew Stowe & I am EOP's Lead Academic Advisor. I specifically advise students with last name T-Z & GSP students. I have been an EOP Academic Advisor for over 4 years now. I love working with each of you as you explore your passions & accomplish your goals When I am nt advising, I’m usually listening to hip hop , playing video games , making beats, or binge-watching tv-shows. ... I am still transitioning to the Shelter-At-Home order, but my dog (Sugar...swipe for pic.), is for sure loving it. Working from home has been different & at times distracting. I’ve tried a few spots in my apartment to be productive and think I am finally settling in. (Swipe for my WFH space) It has been nice spending more time with my wife and we have been doing at home workouts/yoga together, which has been really fun. It has been weird though not being able to see my family in person, but we’ve been calling/facetiming more frequently which has been good. My advice for adjusting to online courses is to 1Create YOUR space and 2Find BALANCE. Now that I created my mini office it has helped me get into the mentality of work as well as helps me stay focused . Along with that I still recognize that the world is dealing with a pandemic, and so I practice self-care as much as I can. Finding healthy distractions such as yoga and video games have helped me create a work life balance. To schedule an appointment, please email [email protected] and provide me with your availability as well as your student ID number and I will get back to you to schedule a meeting.

Hello EOP My name is Jovana Mendoza, and I am one of the EOP’s Academic Advisors. I specifically advise students with last names I-M. I currently oversee our Student Mentor Program and Summer Bridge Program. I really enjoy history , working out , and traveling . I love traveling to historical places! ... With the transition to working remotely and taking online classes now as a Graduate student, staying organized has really worked for me. I try to include having scheduled slot times for work, class time/tasks, and relaxing. *swipe to check out my work and class station* My advice for taking online classes would be to stay organized. This will allow you to know what’s coming up and the time that you have dedicated for class time/assignments. Take some time to reflect on what has worked for you as a student. Was it a planner? A Google calendar? Post it notes? Phone calendar? And be sure to schedule some time to take care of yourself and relax . To schedule an appointment please email: [email protected], please include your availability and student ID number and I will reach out to schedule a meeting. I am more than happy to meet with you for a check in, provide additional tips for taking online courses or help answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Hey EOP, My name is Crystal Murguía, and I am one of the EOP’s Academic Advisors. I specifically advise students with last names C-H; as well as oversee our LINK Student Assistants. When I’m not working I enjoy hiking, going to concerts, binge watching crime shows, and keeping these two in place. ... If I can share one thing about working remotely that has been working for me is staying consistent with my work schedule and routine. 1 Recommendation I would provide for students taking online classes is treat it as a regular scheduled class. I recommend creating a daily/weekly schedule that allows for class time, breaks, meals, working out etc. Then do assignments and reading during that block time. To schedule an appointment, please email: [email protected], and provide me with your availability as well as your student ID number and I will reach out to you to schedule a meeting. #tipsandtricks #meetthestaff #sjsueop #eop #stayconnected

As we near the end of EOP’s 50th Anniversary Conference, we want to remember and celebrate the students who shaped California’s history through activism and social justice. This conference is an observance of those who made access to higher education a reality, and an opportunity to recognize those who continue this movement today and for those who will lead us into the future. @eop_50 @sjsu @csu #50YearsOfYears
