This Saturday was supposed to be the 7th annual Bay Area Printers' Fair & Wayzgoose, now cancelled. So we look back to 2019 and this jumbo poster, 18" x 26", which visitors printed from wood type on our Hacker Test Press.#WeAreAllinItTogether #letterpress #woodtype
We regret to announce that we are canceling the 2020 Bay Area Printers' Fair & Wayzgoose that had been scheduled for April 18, 2020. This is in light of CDC guidance that events for 50 or more people should be canceled for the next eight weeks due to health threats related to COVID-19. We are disappointed to cancel this event and feel like it is a big loss for our visitors, exhibitors, and for the San Jose Printers' Guild. But it is most important at this time to prioritize t...he health and well being of everyone. In the absence of an in-person event this year, we are planning to promote our exhibitors online through our website, email, Facebook, and Instagram. It seems important to spotlight the varied art, craft, services, and supplies offered by our exhibitors in this time when we can't gather in person. Over the next few weeks we will send out a series of messages and posts to highlight different exhibitors in turn. Wishing all the best to everyone, The San Jose Printers' Guild
On International Women's Day, we celebrate Jane Grabhorn, the Bay Area's own icon of women in print. #internationalwomensday2020 #letterpress http://www.alphabettes.org/the-feminist-possibilities-of-p/

Our friend Amos Kennedy, whose film and amazing posters were featured at our Wayzgoose in 2019, needs our help to restore his "Pile of Bricks" in Detroit into "The Printery." Check out the video here, and head over to Indiegogo to help out while rewarding yourself with some of his freshest printed goods: https://www.indiegogo.com/pro/restoring-the-pile-of-bricks

Checking the clearance and moving the Linotype out of its old home with "Peck the Printer", aka Willys Peck's Printing Museum in Saratoga, CA. He was a long-time member of the Printers' Guild, and even longer a printer, lawyer, journalist, and copy editor at the San Jose Mercury News and earlier papers. Jim Gard, Eric Butler, and Kim Hamilton pose at the end with the Linotype successfully moved through the garden and into a trailer en route to its new home! #letterpress #linotype
Printers' Guild chair Jim Gard propels the Linotype Model 5 out of its old home in the Peck Printing Museum and Saratoga, through the garden that grew up around it, and into a trailer en route to its new home. Eric, Kim, and Patty assist. We moved the Linotype 80 feet in about 8 hours, or 10 feet per hour!
See you tomorrow at History Park under the light tower! The Printers’ Fair starts at 10am
