TABE was formed in 2020 by Black faculty, staff, and administrators with the collective vision to build a legacy that promotes opportunities and fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for Black employees and students within the SJECCD community. Donovan Bader was raised in the City of Good Neighbors and is obsessed with teaching and martial arts. After graduating high school, Donovan found his passion when he was given the opportunity to lead classes and compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He moved to California to further his education in order to pivot to a long-term career. Mac Hoang recently graduated with honors from UC Berkeley, where he received one of the highest honors: The Chancellor's Civic Engagement Mathers Award. He transferred from San Jose City College, and was a part of many programs including Cultivamos Excellente. Mac grew-up in socially toxic environments that exposed him to life-altering trauma and has a ...broad view on education. He dedicated his time at Cal to making positive changes, such as: restructuring the age restrictions for the foster program at Cal and creating the first undocumented scholars’ & foster scholars’ research cohorts which have generated thousands in funding that goes directly to impacted scholars.
