CALL TO ACTION - The Filipinx/a/o COVID-19 Resource and Response Team is asking our community to sign a letter they plan to send to the Biden-Harris chair of the COVID-19 Health Equity Taskforce. The letter itself essentially calls for the task force to be transparent with data collection and dissemination of information about BIPOC communities affected by COVID-19 cases and deaths. Additionally, they are asking the task force to take into consideration Filipinx representa...tion in the federal public health planning given our community’s disproportionate roles in health care. Sign the letter at tiny.cc/filcovidsign #publichealth #covid #filipinx #calltoaction #bidenharris

"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitableEvery step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Today, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) honors the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to movement for racial justice. As Filipinx/a/o Americans, we are a people with a long and complex history of colonization... and migration. While the mainstream narrative around race leaves us out almost entirely, there is most assuredly a role that we have. This is a journey which requires us to collectively confront the ways that Filipinx/a/os not only have been targets of the system of racism in the U.S., but complicit in our support of leaders, policies and behaviors that uphold it as well. It is our chance to dive into our own history of resistance and apply the lessons learned and resilience gained to movements here today. Now is the time in which we have the beautiful opportunity to listen, to follow, to learn and to demonstrate leadership in solidarity with Black, Indigenous and People of Color-led movements for liberation that are transforming and healing our communities. #mlk #legacy #history #community #abettertomorrow
