What an incredibly FUN workshop this was with all these wonderful ladies!!! My abs still hurt from laughing so hard . Tanya contacted me to see if I could host a private paint workshop for her and some girlfriends. I sent her some ideas for a paint project and they all decided on the signs! We used Fusion Mineral Paint to paint and stencil the signs. I also had them stain the boards to frame their sign using Fusion's Stain and Finishing Oil (SFO) then Chris Looysen Woo...dshop attaches them to the sign. Didn't they turn out AMAZING ?!?! She says "don't throw the baby out with the bath water." I feel like there was a lot of good that came out of this crazy year, all the good stuff, that was your baby. Some of you will remember when we installed vinyl wood floors in our house last year. We decided to take that useless pony wall out that was next to our front door. In doing so it left us with a big hole in our drywall. I did a search on Yelp and found @brentensfinishcarpentry which thankfully he also had his IG handle listed so I could look at his work. I was SO excited because he does SO much more than just drywall (we have more work for him ). I called and he came ou...t the same week and fixed the large hole in our drywall like it was no big deal . He even had to put a metal piece on the corner because we have bull nose corners in our house. I am SO excited to find someone that really knows what they are doing AND he also builds custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets. He literally grew up in a cabinet makers shop so he knows it all . Here is the after pic of the cabinet I said I was painting half and leaving the other side . It makes for the PERFECT coffee and snack bar for my workshop room. It is also a wonderful demo piece because you can see what a little bit of paint can do to a piece to completely update it! The left side is painted in Fusion Mineral Paint French Eggshell which is one of their newest colors . . Who has a piece of furniture in their home that could use a little updating . .... FYI: I only used one quarter of a pint of Fusion for this project and no top coat because it is built into the paint . Tucker's 1st year at the pumpkin patch and OMG we found the BEST pumpkin patch EVER!!! It's called @branchcreekfarm in rural Arroyo Grande. This is the first year Kayla and her sweet family have decided to grow this patch and I'm super glad they did !! They have the best variety of pumpkins and you can go out and pick your own or just buy pumpkins they have already picked for you. We enjoyed going out in the field and looking for our pumpkin. It was like a treasure hunt be...cause they have so many different varieties mixed in together it's a lot of fun! I will share more in my stories so definitely watch those but more importantly you MUST go out and get some pumpkins. Help support a local business and farmers doing this for the first time !! Plus their prices are incredible!! I only paid $29 for all the pumpkins and the sunflowers they grow on location as well. Chris LOVED his gift I made for him . His woodshop (affectionately called "The Tiny Woodshop") needed a sign so I got creative and found the perfect size sign at @hobbylobby I just had to paint over it. I used @fusionmineralpaint in the color Picket Fence as the background then made the stencils and used Coal Black to paint the letters . I had so much fun with this project that I am going to be offering some Christmas sign making workshop classes. Chris will be cutting all ...the wood so we don't have to paint over signs . Took a few days off to celebrate Chris on his birthday . We had a lot of fun playing golf at Monarch Dunes Golf Course, and walking the dogs around the trails they have created. Birthday dinner was at our FAVORITE Mediterranean restaurant The Garden Mediterranean Restaurant & Cafe You can see by Chris' face they have the BEST burger around . They are always so good to us . They brought out baklava and turned up the Birthday song just to celebrate. They always make us fe...el so special whenever we eat there! We found a NEW pumpkin patch to go to this year!!! I am extremely disappointed in City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks for letting the Enos house deteriorate before our eyes. The first picture with the sunset was taken today, October 23rd, 2020 and each picture after goes all the way back to 2017 where the house sat originally on the hill above the freeway. You can see the wood details on the porch are gone and most obvious is the shingles are completely gone. It's coming up on winter and this house will sit untouched yet... another year while the rest of the large shopping complex gets more houses, stores, car dealerships and a school. Why can't the city get their act together and put the love into this house it so desperately deserves?! Santa Maria is notorious for erasing their history so I was shocked that they saved my favorite house but PLEASE do something with it instead of letting it just rot. Our Fall Centerpiece workshop was seriously a BLAST !!! Chris Looysen Woodshop built these solid wood boxes that we painted with Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in the color Curio which mimics a dark stain. We added hemp oil and did a wet destress to make the woodgrain pop! The pumpkins were painted in Fusion Mineral Paint then we arranged them all in the box and added some beautiful faux greenery and 2 tall candles. I'm seriously so impressed with how gorgeous these turned ...out !!! Way to go Cindy and Joyce, A+ students right there !!! .
