Yesterday morning, after Simons Middle School principal Roddy Layton contacted me to cover a very special event on Monday night via text, Jeff and I drove out t...o the school site and arrived just before 8 am. #simonsmiddleschool in Pomona Unified School District recognized over 150 students. Those students were awarded for #perfectattendance #mostimprovedattendance & #collegeandcareerready including the top 10 #readers in the school which included the students who are in Roddy's Readers - (after school voluntary book club) were also recognized. Simons Middle School, in conjunction with #Foodservices provided #FREE breakfast and lunch to all #PUSD students. Simon's is one of several schools within the #pusd district to serve breakfast and lunch every Monday thru Friday from 7 am until 9:30 am. Aaron Levy and members of Abundant Living Family Church HD have served free groceries to the #community - this month along with members of the church as they provided to over 100 families. Simon's would also like to thank Little Caesars Pizza on Rio Rancho Dr. El Merendero on Garey Ave. & #calpolypomona #pumpkinpatch for their donations to help support the student recognition. Very well organized event thanks to Stephanie Lopez who is a staff member at Simon's - we first met her several years ago at Walgreen's during a #backtoschool back pack donation event. The staff at Simon's provided students with #giftbags #awardcertificates #giftcards #pumpkins and new #textbooks Congratulations to all of the students. #proud2bepusd
