With teary eyes we bid adieu to Kelly Fogarty a 20 year member of SIMB. Kelly and John are on their way to Austin, Tx to be nearer to their daughter and soon to be son in law. In her 20 years of Soroptimist, Kelly has served in many of the Board positions including President . Over the years she has worked on our various fund raisers, our newsletter, our Annual Report, the Live Your Dream Award program, etc. She has served as Treasurer of the Camino Real Region and as a memb...er of the Fund Raising Council for Soroptimist International of the Americas. Kelly is also a member of the Inner Circle of the Laurel Society having made Soroptimist her charity of choice. We wish her well in her new adventure and recognize the Soroptimist club in Austin has gained a devoted and hard working member! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and our focus is on supporting those women in chemotherapy in underserved areas of the South Bay. They receive the Breast Cancer Comfort Bags which we lovingly build. We are grateful for the partnership with the Manhattan Beach Police Department through their Pink Patch Project. The funding they bring from selling shirts, challenge coins, keychains and more provided enough money to make 100 bags last year. We met early this month with Community Affairs Officer Ineguez and Manhattan Beach Mayor Richard Montgomery, pictured with some of our members.
