It was an honor to sit on a panel of camp directors today, sharing how we ran a camp successfully during COVID with Jewish Organizations and what they can all take from our experiences with The Jewish Education Project and the Foundation for Jewish Camp

As the last of our staff arrive back home, we reflect on the WOW that was Summer 2020. -The generosity of supporters who shared our vision to make camp happen. - The incredible support we received in creating, executing and upholding our COVID protocol. ... - The miracle that while COVID numbers spiked around us, not one camper or counselor contracted the virus. - The absolute dedication and hard work of every staff member both at camp and remotely. - The unparalleled trust that our camp parents and families put in us during these confusing and uncertain times. - The adaptable children who showed up happy every day ready to embrace a completely different camp setup then they've known. - The encouraging guidance that we received from the Rebbe in one of his letters. A blessing that carried us all the way through 8 long weeks of living on our campus in a bubble with our staff. A blessing that read "To the administration of Camp Gan Israel, may you open camp successfully and for the whole time in good health....." This summer was not an easy one. It came with a fair amount of sacrifice, focus and hard work. With under 100 children attending each day, there is a definite fundraising gap to fill. Though we headed into this summer feeling like we had taken on an unrealistic and insurmountable endeavor, it has turned out to be a rewarding, valuable and meaningful experience. The connections made this summer far exceeded anything we've ever seen. The feedback from campers was astonishing. So many expressed the joy of connection over trips and excitement of previous years. We saw appreciation and gratitude from parents at a level we have never experienced. So all in all, this summer taught us so much. We have been blessed to discover so many silver linings amidst these difficult times. We are so very grateful to have had the honor and privilege of opening our doors this summer and of giving the children a wonderful Jewish experience. We look back at summer 2020 and we are simply humbled. Shabbat Shalom, Sender & Chami Sender Engel Chami Engel

We are lucky to be able to provide campers lots of safe and enjoyable art this summer through our Creative Studios. This program is funded by a grant from the Albert and Rhoda Weissman Arts Endowment Fund, a joint program of Jewish Community Foundation Orange County and Jewish Federation and Family Services of Orange County.
