#BondFire UPDATED POST (more links added) Here are a few of the Go Fund Me pages that have been set up to help those affected by the fires. (Links in the comments) - The Frey family - an SCC alumni family. Our hearts are broken for Peyton, her parents and little brother as their canyon home was completely destroyed in the blaze. ... - The Malpass family, friends to many of our SCC families. They are accepting donations to help rebuild, as well as household items and clothing on their wish list which is clarified in the link (it also explains where you can bring items to donate). - Rancho Sonado, home of the Orange County Department of Education's "Inside the Outdoors" environmental education program, which was lost in the flames. - Williams Canyon, where 9 homes were completely lost, 12 homes damaged, 75 Barn/Outdoor Structures Lost/Damaged, 53 vehicles/equipment Lost/Damaged and over 20 pets/animals lost. This page will support all residents affected in Williams Canyon. If you are able to help with cleanup in this area, please contact Michele Grace Agopian directly at [email protected] If you know of more Go Fund Me pages or opportunities to support those affected by these fires... please comment here and we'll continue to update this thread!

"HOW CAN I HELP?" If you are anything like us... you've been wondering "how can I help?" since news of this latest fire was announced. Here are a few ways you can help support the school and the community: 1) Donate to one of the Go Fund Me pages listed in the comments: - The first link is for the Frey family - an SCC alumni family. Our hearts are broken for Peyton, her parents and little brother as their canyon home was completely destroyed in the blaze. ... - The second link is for the Malpass family, friends to many of our SCC families. They are accepting donations to help rebuild, as well as household items and clothing on their wish list which is clarified in the link (it also explains where you can bring items to donate). - The third link is for Rancho Sonado, home of the Orange County Department of Education's "Inside the Outdoors" environmental education program, which was lost in the flames. 2) As we learn more about the needs of the community, we will be posting here with a wish list of items we'll be collecting at the school to donate to those who need it. We'll let you know when it's safe to bring items to the school to be distributed, but in the meantime, be on the lookout for household items and clothing that you might be willing to share with those who have lost their homes. NOTE: please do not bring them to the school yet... we are not open and the OCFA have asked everyone to reduce traffic as much as we can on the roads. 3) Stay tuned as we put together our Playground Cleanup Project opportunities! We'll be needing some manual labor help once it's safe to return! #bondfire

#BondFire Update: The Silverado Children's Center will be closed until Monday, December 15th (watch here for updates if that changes!) Although the school is no longer under direct fire threat, Santiago Road is still closed from the 241, there is no power, and there are high wind warnings in effect until tomorrow night. ... In the meantime, we're relieved to share with you that although there was some damage done to the play yard (we're so sad to see our Mud Cafe go!) and some Tonka trucks and trees were lost to flames... the school is still standing and overall unscathed! We're looking forward to getting back in for some cleanup to ensure all is safe before our welcoming our families back in! We are eternally grateful to Orange County Fire Authority for their hard work in battling this fire and keeping our school safe. And thank YOU all again for your incredible support!

Hello all, On Wednesday night around 11:30 pm I received a call from Jeff Schlom (of Circle S Ranch) that a fire was headed toward our school. I raced up there and as I came into the canyon I was overwhelmed with what I saw. Massive red glowing hills, scary! As I pulled into our dark parking lot (power is out so no lights no cell service) all I can see is the red glow behind the school. I am trying to get in contact with our animal evacuation team (Miss Lauren) and secure t...ransportation (Farmer Kelly Roberts Or LART: Large Animal Rescue Team) for awhile with no luck Using the schools landline finally I have success, miss lauren and OC Animal Care are on their way! The animals were finally evacuated around 2am, with Miss Lauren escorting them to Nellie Gail in Laguna Hills to stay with the family (Cynthia and. Greg Makin) who cared for them in our last evacuation. I grabbed the bunnies, locked the school, literally kissed the door and prayed as I left that all would be ok. I stayed at a friends in RSM to be close to SCC and to secure a place for the bunnies to be cared for until we can return. Bunnies are now with one of our amazing families, thank you Andrea, Elizabeth, Peter and Aaron! With so much information coming in from various sources I was unsure of the status of the school. Miss Marta, who’s own home was at risk was able to go by the school yesterday and said buildings were ok, fire did burn right up to the fence line. We now know from various other confirmed sources, that it is intact. Thank you Cindee Black and Joshua Collins, Rachael Maloof for checking on our special little school. Until we can get access and assess any damage, school will be closed, we are hoping to get in this weekend but time will tell. At this time we are not sure if it was firefighters who protected our school and we do hope to find out, we are so truly grateful to whomever or whatever forces kept it safe. OCFA Our thoughts also go out to all of our Canyon families affected by this fire, we hope you and yours are all safe. Please take care and we will update you all soon as more information is available. Stay safe everyone, miss laurie Laurie Briggs
