In honor of National Animal Shelter & Rescue Appreciation Week, we're giving a Shelter Shout to our friends, San Jose Animal Care Center. Thank you for all of your hard work saving and finding forever homes for these sweet animals.
A lot of people have allergies to pets, but did you know that your pet can actually be allergic to humans? It’s today’s strange, but true, pet trivia!

We are grateful for all the shelters and rescues that are helping to care for pets and find their forever homes! With millions of cats and dogs in shelters throughout the United States, the work of the staff and volunteers at these organizations is never-ending, but extremely important. Have you adopted from one of these great organizations? Share your story with us here! To help celebrate National Animal Shelter & Rescue Appreciation Week, we’ll be highlighting some of the amazing local shelters in our area over the next few days!
What’s for dinner? Whether it’s from COVID-19 or anticipating the holiday season, you might be cooking more at home. You can show your pets some extra love when you cook for them, too! Throughout November, we’ll share a few pet-friendly recipes that you can use to treat your fur babies! This first one couldn’t be any easier (only one ingredient!) and comes from Rachael Ray.
If you’ve ever had to wrangle a cat for a bath or attempt to trim the nails of a 90-pound pup who doesn’t like his paws touched, you know how important your groomer can be. They are magical! Today is #InternationalPetGroomerAppreciationDay, so it’s a great time to say a special thanks to your favorite groomer for keeping your pets looking their best.
Happy Halloween!
Fridays are even better when we get to see our patients happy and healthy. We are thrilled to report Dr. Williamson’s patient, Penny, continues to do well for the management of IVDD and Chiari-like malformation. Penny stopped by with her family to deliver some delicious treats and show off her amazing costume. Thank you to Penny’s family for sharing her cuteness with us. Happy Halloween!
We all love a picture of a pet in a cute costume. But our pets may not be as happy with those Instagram-worthy ensembles as we are. If you’re dressing your pet up for Halloween, make sure you are choosing a costume that doesn’t put your pet at risk, and always make sure you supervise your pet while they’re wearing a costume.
While all that Halloween candy is delicious for you, it’s not great for your pets. Keep candy away from pets and make sure wrappers are thrown away in a secured trash can. If you suspect your pet helped themselves to the candy, contact your veterinarian, poison control, or bring your pet to the nearest MedVet.
In honor of National First Responders Day, we want to thank all first responders, including the furry ones!
Black cats sometimes get a bad rap, especially during the Halloween season. We don’t think it’s unlucky to have a black cat cross our path, in fact, we love when they do! It’s National Black Cat Day, so show us your favorite feline friend!
Today is National Pit Bull Awareness Day which is focused on helping people understand that pit bulls aren’t as mean or vicious as they’ve often been portrayed. We are lucky to have some wonderful pit bull patients that are some of the sweetest dogs around!
Each October, thousands of people participate in local community projects for Make a Difference Day. It’s a great reminder that any person at any age can make a difference. Start small! Pay for someone’s coffee or lunch, pick up trash in your neighborhood, or donate food or litter to a local shelter. The possibilities to spread kindness are endless! How will you make a difference today?
