Anyone else feeling overloaded with input? Since being ordered to stay at home and be socially distanced, there has been an explosion of online content. There are the funny memes, news, and posts that speak to what we are experiencing collectively. Then there are the amazing livestream workout, yoga, and meditation classes. Live musical performances, dance experiences, chats with your favorite public figures and even dj parties! Not to mention the regular academic classes no...w offered online every type of online group or individual therapy, and all the audiobooks, podcasts and information that is readily available on audio or electronic sources. The phone calls, texts, and zoom meetings add another layer of input. The amount of content out there is amazing but exhausting and can create anxiety and pressure to keep up and not miss out. Though some may feel isolated in this new norm, others may need to take initiative to sit in the quiet. Turn off the devices. Think their own thoughts. Inhabit their own world. Create their own offline content. It can be scary to meet yourself without the distractions of the outside world but it would be a shame if we didnt take this invitation to see whats really there. Knowing when and how to use our online community is a balance. Preparing for postpartum recovery could not be more essential. Nourishing the Mother after birth prevents depletion and exhaustion.
