Don Juan When it comes to being a warri...or, either you choose to be a warrior or you don't. There is no middle ground. You choose to be extraordinary or your choose to basically be like everyone else. This is one choice which is black or white, either you are a warrior or you're not. This doesn't mean that you choose to work in a warrior profession or you are not a warrior. Being a warrior is something you are, not something you do. It originates in your spirit, not your profession. There are warriors in all walks of life. You may be a businessman, a teacher, a doctor, or an electrician and still be a warrior. Warriorship is being ready, willing, and able to step up and fight evil when you must. Being a warrior is who you are inside, not what you do for a paycheck. It is who you truly are in your spirit, and the warrior inside will come out when he (or she) is needed. Being a warrior is a choice; nobody is born a warrior. We make ourselves into whatever we want to be in this world. We choose. We choose to be a warrior or we choose to walk through life like the average person, but make no doubt about it - YOU make the choice. When you decide to live the warrior lifestyle, to live the life of the warrior, you are choosing to live a life that is more disciplined and ready for action. You are choosing to keep your warrior skills honed and ready. You are choosing to live life to the fullest and to seek the truth in every situation. You are choosing to be a guardian and protector, not just for your own family, (most people do that), but for any who need and deserve your protection. The second choice doesn't matter that much. Once you choose to be a warrior, what you do for a living is up to you. Some warriors feel a deep urge to go into the warrior professions, and others feel a different calling. What you do for a living doesn't matter, as long as it is honorable. It doesn't change the fact that you have made a choice to live as a warrior. Living your life as a warrior means you take life a little more seriously. You see the hidden truth that others prefer to ignore or turn a blind eye to. It means that you love peace, but you stay prepared to meet and defeat the violent predators of this world, understanding that there are many in this world who do not share your sense of honor, justice and integrity. Choose to live the warrior lifestyle. It will enhance your life, strengthen your spirit and your body, and associate you with those of character, honor, and integrity. We were all meant to live with honor, but only those with the warrior spirit are always able to do so. Choose to live with honor! Choose to be a warrior! Keep your oaths! In Norse culture, if a Viking took an oath and went back on his word, it was said that his sword would turn against him in battle and he would ...incur the wrath of the gods. People today seem to considered lying as commonplace and not a big deal. They see lying or not keeping your word as something that everyone does, and consider it harmless as long as they are not being malicious. But this is wrong thinking. Every time you give your word and do not keep it, you are weakening your warrior spirit. Your words are more powerful than you know. When you give your word and fail to keep it, you are not only teaching others that your word, and your character, are not to be trusted, but you are injuring your warrior spirit and injuring your sense of honor. How can you have good self-esteem, and at the same time, know that your word is no good? How can you claim to be a man or woman of honor, but not keep your oaths? It is no wonder that the Vikings thought their gods would be against them if they did not keep their oaths; why would their gods support a man who had no honor or integrity? If you want to improve your self-esteem, if you want to live with honor and integrity, you must start by making your word good. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Develop the reputation of being a man or woman of your word. When you do, you will find that your words become powerful, and when you speak, others listen. Nobody respects someone who constantly runs his mouth but says nothing important. They take everything he says with a grain of salt. Everyone knows that this guy's words are meaningless, and deep down, they have very little respect for him. He simply talks to hear himself talk. Don't be like this guy! When you give your word, keep it! If you don't know something for a fact, then don't act like you do. Don't gossip or spread rumors, as this is nothing more than the action of fools who are quick to spread lies and half-truths. When you speak, make sure your words have meaning, that you are speaking for a reason, and that what you say is true. Your words are powerful, and can be used to strengthen your character or weaken your character; it is totally up to you which way you use them. If you want the blessings of the Universe, use your words wisely. Not only should you keep your oaths, you should be careful about all of your words. Make your words worth something! Warrior up!
