HOPE by Robert Indiana Indiana rocketed into the modern art world with his LOVE painting. It was originally commissioned as a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. HOPE was his follow up. The paintings have since been transformed into sculptures that are on public display across the globe. The iconic sculpture sits prominently in the atrium at the Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine. It’s scale and placement nearly forcing a full stop.... This pause in pedestrian flow pattern is intentional. RENDERING REALITY! When the finished product, created in the dusty chaos of a jobsite, matches up against the computer generated perfection of the rendering, you can call that success! The olive branch suspended mosaic, created from brass placards individually integrated into a network of aircraft cabling and full height stud accent wall, had to be spot-on perfect.... It serves as a visual anchor of the atrium, accentuates the medicinal properties of plants throughout medical history and pays homage to the parties who have contributed to the creation of the new Ellison Institute campus.
