In an abundance of caution and in line with surrounding school districts and the local, state, and federal health and education agencies, all SIATech and SIATec...h Academy South school sites will be CLOSED through April 3, in order to curb the potential transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19). This closure will be effective through April 3, 2020 unless conditions call for an extension. During this period, school sites listed below will be closed and all students should stay home. We will continually monitor the situation and remain in close contact with the appropriate county offices of education and local public health officials throughout the duration of this closure and will provide updates to students, staff and parents as appropriate. SIATech South Sacramento High School remains OPEN as usual. There are no known instances of a SIATech student or employee who have tested positive for COVID-19, and our school has not been advised to close by the Sacramento County Public Health Department and Sacramento County Office of Education. Therefore, our schools will remain open until further notice and we will continue to encourage proactive measures such as washing your hands frequently, disinfecting surfaces, and staying home if you feel sick.

School will be closed today. We will be back on Monday, November 25.

Tinkering SIATech Student Readies Broken Wheelchair to Donate When SIATech South Sacramento faculty members arrived on site one morning in early October, there was a broken down wheelchair abandoned in the back parking lot. Overhearing a faculty conversation about potentially breaking down the wheelchair into its component parts for projects got student Sid Tavera’s mental gears turning. ... Unbeknownst to faculty members, Sid (pictured) walked around to the back parking lot at the end of his school day, rolled the wheelchair home, and began tinkering. One of the chair’s wheels was destroyed beyond repair, but Sid rummaged around his garage and found a wheel that would work, given some creative hardware modifications. He checked and tightened hardware, ensuring sound operation. Currently, Sid is on the hunt for an armrest to complete the wheelchair’s rehabilitation. Once the chair is complete, Sid plans to donate it to a person in need of a wheelchair.
