TBT! Almost 11 years ago, we were at the Riverside Aquatics. Riverside OUTLOOK wrote in December 2010: "The complex will meet the needs of Riverside’s aquatics athletes for generations to come and bring almost 6,000 more pool hours to all of Riverside’s young swimmers. Additionally, it will attract tens of thousands of competitors and visitors from around the state and beyond to Riverside and the RCC campus, having an extraordinary economic impact on the City."
It's December! Did you know that the tradition of hoisting an evergreen tree to the top of a newly constructed building comes from an old Scandinavian custom of placing a tree atop a newly constructed building to indicate that it still has connection to the forest. This tradition came to America and developed into the topping off ceremony.

On Thanksgiving, it is important for us to show our appreciation and love for the people that mean the most to us. We are thankful for all our employees and the hard work they do. We are thankful to be in business and thriving. We are thankful for all our clients and business relationships. We are thankful for our own families and their love. We are thankful to be an essential business. and be able to work every day. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Monday! In our series about SAFETY protocols, we have come to "FORKLIFT OPERATION" - Improve forklift safety, and eliminate hazards are just some of the procedures we go through. We work together to ensure a forklift is safe to use before getting behind the wheel. These are some of the steps before using a forklift. - Perform a daily inspection of all forklifts in use - Examine the tires and oil levels - Check for water, oil, or radiator leaks... - Ensure forks are straight and not cracked - Test brakes, lights, the horn, and the steering wheel - Look for obstructions, uneven surfaces, overhead obstacles, and other potential hazards Increased safety, increased peace of mind!
TGIF! It's that day again. So in the spirit of meaningless information, here is why it is called FRIDAY. It comes from the old English frigedæg "Friday, Frigga's day," from Frige, genitive of *Frigu (see Frigg), Germanic goddess of married love. The day name is a West Germanic translation of Latin dies Veneris "day of (the planet) Venus," which itself translated Greek Aphrodites hmera.
Excavating by hand??? Is that possible? We use great machinery for our excavations, but the Kimberley Diamond Mine in South Africa is one of the largest holes in the world... dug by human hands!
Do you love seafood? If so you are in luck! Even though we are all about shoring, excavation, caissons and shotcrete, we have to eat. Today, Monday the 19th of October, is National Seafood Bisque Day. If you haven't tasted it, give it a try. Do you have a favorite? :)

World Food Day is held every year on October 16th. On this day, more than 150 countries unite to raise awareness of the issues surrounding poverty and hunger. According to World Hunger Statistics, 785 million people across the globe do not have enough food to sustain a healthy lifestyle. We believe community involvement is a good thing. There is so much everyone can do on a local level. If we all do a small part, we will make a big impact. We've lent our hands to several good causes including the American Heart Association, the Association for LA Deputy Sheriffs, Ancop Foundation, California High School, California Highway Patrol II Foundation, Fontana Baseball League and the Good Guys Marine Fund. Thank you to all our employees and the people to support community involvement. We are always local.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! Did you know that today, Friday October 9th, is both National Pizza and Beer Day, and National Hoagy Day? What looks better to you? Drink responsibly and stay safe this weekend!
It's TBT! This time take a look at how scaffolding has evolved since the 1920's. Big difference, or not? :)
We would like to highlight a great partner and company for us through the years. From a 'bootstrap' start in 1989 to industry dominance today: Structural Shotcrete Systems is one of the top providers in the industry. Structural Shotcrete's nozzlemen are a select group of professionals. They undergo constant testing and retesting, on-site and off, through the ACI certification program and our own stringent quality controls.
Our safety training includes CPR/first aid. We take precautionary and corrective measures to maximize safety at each job. And having a dependable CPR team makes sense for any company. Every manager and every employee is on high alert to ensure that not only he or she is working safely, but the others around them are as well.
Are you a coffee drinker? If so, rejoice. It's INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY! Most of us celebrate each morning like it’s a special day for drinking coffee, but today you have an extra-special reason to pour yourself a great cup of coffee. What's your favorite? Black coffee, Espresso, Americano, Pour Over Coffee, Drip Coffee, Instant Coffee, Cappuccino, Latte, Macchiato, Mocha, Iced and Cold Coffee, Turkish Coffee, or Irish coffee?
From fall protection to CPR/first aid, scaffolding awareness to hazardous materials-our impressive track record of onsite safety didn't happen by accident. In our series about SAFETY, we have come to SCAFFOLDING AWARENESS. In this course, we review the OSHA regulations as they relate to the use, basic safety, and management of various scaffolds used in the workplace. Our safety manager who comes from the oil industry where safety standards and procedures are the most stringent on earth. He's constantly moving all over our construction sites taking precautionary and corrective measures to maximize safety at each job.
Our main services are shoring, (of course), excavation, shotcrete and caissons. However, we do a lot of welding too. Whether it is in our own yard, or on site. Did you know that welding was invented in 1881(!) It started with August De Meritens, who used arc heat to join lead plates together. One of his students, Nikolai Benardos, then patented a method of electric arc welding with carbon rods. After that, welding processes advanced very quickly.
It's TBT! During our over 50 years in this business we have accumulated a lot of equipment. Ever seen this one before? If so, what is it?
