SCARF and Friends of the Lost Coast announce Phase 3 of the Nature Trail New Plant Identification is Completed. As of Wednesday, December 3, 2020, the official new trailhead signs dedicating the completion of the 9 month project were installed. These signs are now at both ends of the SCARF Nature Trail and the Bill Franklin Nature Trail. SCARF wants to express its appreciation of Dale and Jan Alexander who installed the new trailhead signs earlier this week. This was a ...community project and we want to recognize and thank Friends of the Lost Coast, the Resort Improvement District and the dozens and dozens of individual and corporate sponsors and volunteers who all devoted hours of time and efforts to make this project a reality. Soon, the final phase of the project will be coming out with a trail flyer identifying all the new signs and thanking their individual sponsors by name, along with thanking the many business and corporate sponsors who generously contributed to the project. These new flyers will be available at the trails and many other locations around the Cove. SCARF hopes the everyone enjoys all of our nature trails and their new signs.........Happy Holidays! The Shelter Cove Arts and Recreation Foundation and the Lost Coast Artists regret that due to county restrictions we are postponing this Saturday's Art Reception for this exhibit until next year. We hope to schedule a closing exhibit reception in January or February. A very special exhibit of featured artist Mary Neufeld was to be displayed at this event and SCARF and LCA are sorry that we have to take this action. However, the complete show is available to view on our new website.http://lostcoastartist.com/ SCARF wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

The Shelter Cove Arts and Recreation Foundation (SCARF) has 4 metal small trailhead signs ready to be picked up in Eureka. If anyone is in Eureka today or Wednesday and are able to pick them up that would be great. They are at Advanced Display and Signs, 726 2nd Street in Old Town Eureka. The phone there is 443-2816. ADS is not open on Thanksgiving or Friday of this week. SCARF has taken care of the payment for them so you do not need to be concerned about that. If you can help, please call mark at 986-7120 or email at [email protected]. Thank you in advance from SCARF and we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

The Shelter Cove Arts and Recreation and Friends of the Lost Coast are excited and proud to announce that the final thirty three plant and tree identification signs were installed yesterday on the Bill Franklin Nature Trail. There are now 51 signs on the two SCARF Nature Trails. This would not be possible without all of our sign donors and southern Humboldt community and business sponsors. This project has been done over the last 6 months and we hope the community enjoys a...nd learns about nature as they walk the trails. SCARF and the Friends of the Lost Coast thank all the people who came out to work yesterday to get this work done. We thank Bill Franklin, Tim Evans, Jared Boudreaux, Christopher Ray Pruitt, Mark Mitchell, Nancy Mitchell, Kurt Odra and Joe Mendes and District Staff who worked many hours to get all the work done. There are still two small phases that will be completed soon for the trails. New Trailhead signs will be installed on the trails and a flyer listing all of our sponsors, sign donors, names of plants that have a sign identifying them, and locations of the plants will be will be available at the trails. Pictured below is one of the new signs along with a picture of the actual plant identified and Jared Boudreaux and his son working on the trail. Your SCARF Board and the Board of the Friends of the Lost Coast hope you enjoy getting out and enjoying nature.
