80% to 90% of people who are sexually assaulted don’t report. That’s a lot of people who feel they are not safe to talk about it or can’t talk about it. Beli...eve them. Don’t ask questions like, ‘What were you wearing?’ or ‘Why were you alone?’ Support them. Such messages were the powerful theme of Thursday’s Take Back the Night, a rally and march in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence. The event, starting in the Residence Hall Quad with resources, speakers who shared personal stories, and an atmosphere of support, drew hundreds of students, faculty, and staff. It culminated in a march across campus, all part of Sac State’s Sexual Violence Awareness Month. Thank you to Student Health and Counseling Services, the Women’s Resource Center, and all those who volunteered to make this Hornet Family gathering possible. #SacStateCares
