What has happened to the first quarter of 2020? This will be a quarter none of us will soon (or ever) forget. The previous decade ended on a high note for Shanahan capping off the best year in the history of our 20 year old company! Thank you from the very bottom our hearts for your business. One of our first projects this year was for my creative sister and brother-and-law, Mary and Jay Fagnano. Mary drafted this New Year’s card which our designer Daniel Chan crafted for Mar...y and Jay's nonprofit Thrive in Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation, that they founded in memory of their son Nick. Mary and Jay have been taking two trips each year with USC students and other adults to the Dominican Republic to rebuild an orphanage and elementary school. They have also established a character development curriculum based on Nick's positive character traits. Mary made this greeting card to celebrate the New Year, highlight the development of their work in the Dominican Republic, and to introduce Nick's character traits. A job well done! I share this 2020 card for two reasons (even though it is April already). One is selfish. I want to share the great graphic design and printing that Shanahan does every day. Many of you are our current customers, and we very much appreciate your business. And although the start of this year was not what anyone could have expected, it is not too late to make 2020 a positive year. Sure there will be many hurdles and obstacles that we work through to beat the virus, but we will adopt a can-do attitude and seek opportunities to grow. The second reason I share the 2020 card is to highlight the creativity and hard work of the Thrive In Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation and to acknowledge that happiness is grounded in gratitude, service and living life with purpose and meaning; and with this reflection.
