#DidYouKnow that up to 70% of your annual water use is from outside your home? That means that most of our at-home water usage is spent on watering the lawn or keeping our yards clean. If you reduce the number of days that you water your plants, or even switch over to more effective watering times (e.g. early morning or evening) you can save water AND money! What a win-win

What extends two-thirds of #California, provides #water to 27 million people, and irrigates 750,000 acres of farmland? The #StateWaterProject of course! The State Water Project is the largest state-financed water project ever built! It’s responsible for distributing water all across California. As one of 29 State Water Contractors, SGPWA is responsible for maintaining the SWP within our service area, to bring supplemental water to the region to meet short and long-term needs.... That means we bring clean water from the state to local water districts so YOU can have fresh, sustainable water. You can learn more about our agency’s role in the SWP at sgpwa.com Background photo via California Department of Water Resources

The East Branch Aqueduct is one of two State Water Project aqueducts serving Southern California. We designed and built its extension in 2017 in partnership with @sbvmwd to bring additional water to communities in eastern San Bernardino County. Did you know that the average California household uses between one-half and one full acre-foot of water per year for indoor and outdoor use? That means that you could fill one entire football field one foot deep with the amount of wa...ter that your family uses annually! Now multiply that by 2,623,100 acre-feet of imported supply to imagine how much water the East Branch Aqueduct provides! Wow! It’s time for another Water Conservation #TipTuesday! Do you leave the water running while brushing your teeth? Don’t let precious money and resources go down the drain! Let’s do the math: We brush our teeth for two minutes every morning and evening... About 2 gallons of water flow from the tap every minute That’s 8 gallons every day per person if you keep the faucet on while brushing Think of all the water we can ALL be saving by using this simple tip. (Hint: @epagov says this can save more than 200 gallons a month!) #conservation #waterislife #savemoney #savewater

Did you know that #groundwater is the largest source of usable, fresh #water in the world? This water doesn’t just support the needs of more than 30 million Californians; it also helps buffer the impact of drought and climate change, and plays a vital role in economic and environmental stability statewide! Protecting this resource is a huge job that wouldn’t be possible without statewide teamwork and dedication. That’s why we think our employees and partners are pretty super!... SGPWA is doing its part to maintain this critical regional resource through active monitoring of area basins alongside agencies such as U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Data collected from this monitoring is critical in ensuring groundwater basins are effectively managed to meet area water needs without long-term depletion of supply. Do you want to be super, too? Tell us how you’re saving water in the comments below!
