The story of Jacob and Esau is a well-known story about the struggle between brothers after the story of Cain and Abel. What is significant about this particular story is that it has a happy ending! On this Sunday, I would like to explore the spiritual significance of Jacob and Esau as twin brothers. This will be a communion service. Please prepare wine/grape juice and bread/crackers at home and Rev. Lee will offer a blessing so we can partake of the holy supper together.

God in the Bible takes names and naming seriously. It begins with Abram and Sarai, whose names were changed into Abraham and Sarah, in which case both of them received h from the word YHWH, which stands for I am who I am. Jacob is very unique in that his name was changed completely from Jacob to Israel. According to Swedenborg, the renaming of Jacob is embedded in the whole process of regeneration. This Sunday, Oct. 25, Rev. Junchol Lee will explore the process of human regeneration in connection with the journey of Jacob becoming Israel.
