The Entwined, exhibit by San Francisco artist Charles Gadeken is delightfully magical and a perfect visual complement to the holiday season. This gift, made p...ossible by kind donations, is in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Golden Gate Park which transforms Peacock Meadow into an enchanted forest of otherworldly shapes and ever-changing light. These photos are from early evening to twilight so that you can experience the lighting progression as I saw it.

Earlier this afternoon I went for a walk around Lands End, Sutro Baths, Seal Rock, the Cliff House, Ocean Beach. I just got back after 1 year in the French Al...ps and I’m going around on my walks, checking all the places I love around here. It is a bitter sweet retrouvaille because there were only a handful of people today, Lands End Visitors center was closed, Louie’s is gone, the Cliff House was closed too and there is a somber mood. BUT the Pacific was as grandiose as ever, and the sky before the incoming rain was as tormented as it should be! For that matter, the usual group of surfers were there at the foot of the Cliff House and that I found very reassuring See more

The French Sculpture La Rose des Vents by Jean-Michel Othoniel has taken up permanent residence in Golden Gate Park. Nine months after it was originally schedul...ed to be permanently installed to coincide with the #GGP150 anniversary celebrations in April 2020, the glistening kinetic gold and aluminum sculpture returned to its place in front of the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers where it was first installed in September 2015 by Gallery 836M in partnership with us and the San Francisco Arts Commission. A portrait of the Seal Rock Inn Restaurant, which sadly closed a few months back. I always enjoyed their breakfasts and despite it being in a hotel it always had a nice low-key, local feel- with great views.
