As everyone knows, corona virus and COVID-19 are here in Placer County. While some organizations are recommending the cancelation of group activities including bike rides, we believe we can continue to ride together if we make a few minor changes, but mostly if we use a lot of common-sense. That being said, each person needs to decide what is best for themselves and whether participating in a group activity is worth the risk. Going forward the Ride Leader will sign in all ri...ders, instead of passing the sign-in sheet to each rider. Be prepared to provide your name and phone number to the Ride Leader. Each rider will print their own route sheet if they need one. Both of these will minimize handling of common materials. Non-members will still need to sign the waiver. Ride Leaders: Sign in/out riders Add route sheet to ride description (like Fast Friday), or attach a printable file. All Riders: Stay home if you are sick Practice good hygiene Go to the back of the group if you need to spit or blow your nose Print out your own route sheet, use a navigation device, or follow someone that knows the route Don't share water bottles or food Keep others at a comfortable distance Cycling is an important part of our lives and in keeping us healthy. https://www.bicycling.com//a31/cycling-during-coronavirus/ John Holt SFCC Ride Director
This just in......... "As you are probably aware, California Governor Newsom has issued a public health advisory requesting events over 250 participants be canceled or postponed to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Even though Party Pardee is technically beyond the date of the current health advisory, we believe that it will be extended. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution for our riders and volunteers and consistent with the Governor’s advisory, the Sacramento Bike Hikers has postponed Party Pardee until Saturday October 24, 2020. We will be sending additional information to our riders, volunteers and members in the next 24 hours."
Announcing a very special Saturday Enduro ride on February 29th. Five Saturdays in February are extremely rare...in fact it only happens, on average, once every 28.87 years! So, let's celebrate with a nice Enduro ride on the Party Pardee course on Leap Day! Our route will be the Pardee course...65 miles with approximately 3500 feet of climb. The ride will start at 9:00am at Charles Howard Park in Ione (the same start location as the 100K century held in early April). Let's go... ahead and call this an adventure ride because there are lots of turns on the course and there will likely be no course markings left over from last year's event. There will be two rest stops on the course...one at approximately 29 miles (convenience store in Wallace), and another at Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial Park in Valley Springs at mile 49.5 (rest stop #3 used during the century event). As for all Enduro rides, a ride roster and route sheet will be provided, but there will be no sweep and no SAG. The ride leader will stay at the finish until all riders are accounted for, and the ride leader's phone number will be on the route sheet. www.ridewithgps.com/routes/31896455 More info as the ride gets closer. Mark your calendars!
We are getting down to the wire. You only have three days left to order a new SFCC jersey. This is a special design to commemorate our club’s ten year anniversary. The wind shell vests have been very popular and a great addition to the jersey for those early morning rides.
By popular demand, we have opened up a reorder window with Voler Apparel. Now’s your chance to purchase an SFCC 10th anniversary jersey, jacket, shorts, arm warmers, etc. The Voler Apparel link for ordering is: http://www.voler.com/custom/ordering/li/32594... You’ll have until February 16th to place your order. The order will ship on or before April 3rd. All orders will be sent to you, so no need to schedule a pick up.
