To our dear Students of S Factor, As you are moving your body and feeling your way through the emotions of S Factor's recent news, we want to make sure you kno...w that we are still here for you and you will still have places to take classes starting August 1! Several of our SoCal S Teacher Creatures are becoming Licensed Teachers, which means that they will continue running the virtual classes you have been attending! S Factor will be posting information on the website as of August 1st, so you can continue your journey in community with your S sisters! As we move through this transition, we want you to remember that the feminine campfire can never be extinguished - our teachers are the campfire, our movement is the campfire and (more than anything else) you are the campfire. Beautiful S Community, Thank you for your voices. Thank you for being brave. Thank you for your honesty. We want you to know that we are listening. We hear all that you have expressed regarding diversity, inclusion and the S Factor community experience. We are committed to doing the work to achieve real change S Factor was created 20 years ago as a safe place to empower all women in their feminine geniuses. A place for all women to feel emboldened in their embodied experien...ce of life.. A place for women to feel protected in the bosom of sisterhood. What has become clear is that we have not been successful. Not all women are feeling safe and seen in our community. And that is not okay with us. We are going to rectify this. Your needs are integral to what we create next. We want to host intimate campfire discussions with you. The first of these conversations will take place on July 9th. Based on our desire to create a safe space for this conversation and the feedback we have received, this first gathering will be for Black Women and Women of Color within our community, We desire to center and understand your experience. We have invited a Diversity and Inclusion consultant and expert to join this conversation and to work with us. Beyond the July 9th gathering, she will help us assess our mission, culture, curriculum, and business practices. Through this guided work, we will create and implement a strategic plan towards building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive company and community. If you identify as a Black Woman or a Woman of Color and would like to attend this first conversation, please email [email protected]. We will send you an invitation and logistics for the meeting. Dearest S Community, You may have noticed I have been quiet on all of my social platforms recently. It’s because I am listening, I am reflecting and I am learning. My vision for this company has always been one of inclusion a company that uplifts and honors each and every woman. I’m learning that we need to do better. I have gathered every single comment, question and piece of feedback, and I am taking the time to do the internal work I need to do on both the individual an...d organizational levels so that I can step up for our community. What I’m learning, hearing, and seeing is that I have not done enough to uplift, honor and support the voices and experiences of Black Women and Women of Color this was my mistake. My awareness is shifting and this is because of you, the S Factor community. What I know is that it is of the utmost importance that we fully embody what it means to create an inclusive space for women to gather and grow. A space that honors the experiences of Black Women and Women of Color. A supportive place for us all. We are committed to antiracism, and to understanding the challenges faced by the Black community and Women of Color. Thank you for your understanding as I take this time to connect on a deeper level and do the vital work to shift our culture and build an inclusive community.
