Set of Drifters

One of the more unusual places we've ever visited is Jaipur's Jantar Mantar, a collection of giant 18th century architectural structures designed to be used as astronomical instruments. We will eventually stitch together a video of our visit and throw it up on YouTube, but for now enjoy this serene moment captured in between the throngs of tourists. #PhotoOfTheDay

Our first night in Bali gave us one surprise after surprise. One of these was an unexpected live performance of legong at Made's Warung in Seminyak. What we said then (October 2011): "Turns out, Made’s Warung is an institution in Seminyak, having opened in 1969 as a small roadside restaurant. In the years since, the ever-expanding property has attracted a faithful family of expat, tourist and local patrons. At least that explained the kitschy elements we so usually enjoy! Whi...le the aperitif had really been our main goal, we were soon swayed by a cultural dance performance happening at the small stage near the shops. A handful of teenage girls were performing legong, the traditional Balinese dance that spins a tale of heroic romance. The young ladies at Made’s were actually very talented, and we were certainly thrilled to be able to witness such artistry on the fly, and for only the cost of a cheap drink, or two!" #PhotoOfTheDay

By now, this young chap must be all grown up! Preah Pilaly, Angkor What we said then (July 2009): Passing through the jungle between Phimeanakas and Preah Palilay we came across a kid hanging out in the ruins of the Royal Palace’s retaining wall. In attempts to garner tips for his services, he immediately went into "travel guide" mode, regaling us with stories of the original king’s many concubines! We couldn't believe how well versed this dude was, and while we could not res...ist giving him some riels, it was not for his surprising stories, but for his casual modeling amidst the ruins, as if he'd been sent to sell kramas on behalf of the Ford Modeling Agency! #CambodiaTravel #TravelCambodia #WonderfulAngkor #AngkorWat

Gone, and possibly forgotten... La Recoleta cemetary, Buenos Aires What we said then (December 2008): Of all of the presidents, scientists, and wealthy oligarchs buried here, perhaps the most famous is Eva Perón herself! Born Eva Duarte, Evita’s may be the ultimate rags to riches story. The actress-turned First Lady/Activist achieved much in her very short life of 33 years, bringing hope to the Argentine masses while pissing off numerous others in the process! (You can find her modest grave in the middle section on the far left hand side of the cemetery that abuts Calle Vincente Lopez.) #photooftheday

Fundació Joan Miró facade, Barcelona What we said then (May 2010): The fantastic hillside location of this museum (inside the Parc de Montjuïc) sets the stage, and juxtaposes nicely with the ultra-modern design by architect Josep Lluís Sert. Inside, be witness to a sampling of revolving exhibits featuring contemporary artists, as well as a permanent collection showcasing the whimsical Surrealist art of Spain's own, Joan Miró.
