Yesterday, was the Opening Ceremony for the Palmdale Healing and Honor Field. From now until November 11th, you will be able to see 2,020 flags honoring veteran...s, troops, first responders and healthcare heroes displayed at Pelona Vista Park. The location is open 24/7, allowing an opportunity for everyone to visit and pay their respects to these heroes. Each 7 1/2 ft tall flag has been placed in ordered rows with a tag representing a local hero. This event was especially important to us because Captain Shaffer had the privilege of speaking. He honored all our local heroes, including his deputies, for their service and bravery. He then went on to thank the families of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, in order to serve and protect this amazing country. If you would like to honor a hero, there are flags still available for purchase. The flags cost $30 each and are available online through the City of Palmdale at https://cityofPalmdale.org/1003/Healing-Field. Once the event is over you will be able to collect your flag and present it to your honored hero. A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the park on Wednesday, November 11th, at 11 AM. The field will then be closed at 5 PM on November 11th, marking the events commencement.
