We have a request for a video of our feisty resident Western Screech Owl, Gus. But while we are tracking those down, here are some glamor shots of Gussie at the Orange County Bird of Prey Center's new facility! @ocbpc

"Does this house make my butt look big?" This poor little hamster got caught in quite the predicament! After taking a peek through a peephole, the little fuzz bunz' head got stuck! Dr. Weldy had to think "outside the box" and plan a great escape! Using a gas mask to cover/protect this little hammie, he chiseled away at the unexpected hamster-jail with some heavy-duty clippers. Eventually, the fluff-nugget was freed and got some well needed cuddles from Mama!

Him's reciting Shakespeare: to scream, or not to scream? That is the question.

Once again, a veterinarian's work is never done. During Christmas dinner, Dr. Weldy, Dr. Krause, and Dr. Weatherford were called for an emergency by the Mission Viejo Animal Control and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. They had a mountain lion cub that was hit by a car on the 241 freeway and needed immediate care. He has severe injuries to his head and body, but hopefully he will improve with the treatment that was given. Thank you Mission Viejo Animal Control, the good Samaritan that accidently hit the cub (but called for help), and the Cal Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, for helping us give this little guy a fighting chance this Christmas Night.

Well this is a surprise! Dr. Krause found a poor stray calico in her backyard! This sweet little thing is getting some TLC at the hospital while her home is being searched for! She was found off El Toro road and Summerwood road. She is an older girl and really wants to go home to her family. Help us get her home! Please call Serrano Animal and Bird Hospital with any information at 949-855-9744!

This is a Long Eared Owl. He was brought in to the Serrano Animal and Bird Hospital this week from Laguna Beach Animal Control with a broken wing. We are working on getting him stable before working on fixing the fracture. Hopefully, all goes well and he will be on the mend soon enough! @ocbpc
