Dentistry is both art and science. One of the most rewarding procedures is repairing fractured teeth like this, spending time matching the color, shape and texture to that of the adjacent tooth. This lovely patient loves the charming space he naturally has between his front teeth, so we decided to keep it as is. Alternatively, a space like this can easily be closed with a tooth-colored restoration. ... . . #compositeveneer #veneer #brokentooth #dentalfilling #cosmeticdentistry #toothrepair #filling #venturadentist #serene_dentistry_ventura

What is a deep cleaning and do I need it? After a visit to the dentist, particularly if you haven’t visited one in a while, you may be advised that your teeth need a deep cleaning. This term is often used to describe a procedure known as scaling and root planning. ... We’ll recommend this procedure when we see a build up of tartar (calculus) under your gums. This can be seen both clinically and on your X-rays. This typically happens after you haven’t had your teeth cleaned professionally in some time. Plaque that we often miss in hard to reach areas (usually between teeth, especially if you don’t use floss), hardens over time and turns into rough deposits, which are irritating to the gums and contain toxin-producing bacteria. In response, your gums become inflamed and, if left untreated, the condition may advance into periodontal disease, complete with bone loss and, eventually, loss of teeth. To prevent this from happening, visit your dentist regularly and get your teeth cleaned at least twice a year! @ Ventura, California
