The Senate and Assembly reached a budget deal today June 3, 2020. It rejects the cuts to the senior and disability programs that we all have been advocating against. This still needs to be negotiated with the Governor, so making calls, tweeting, emailing, etc. is still very much needed. https://sbud.senate.ca.gov//Legislatures_Version_June_3_20. For 57 years, Older Americans Month (OAM) has been a special time to recognize older adults contributions. Led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL) each May, OAM also provides resources to help older Americans stay healthy and independent, and materials to help communities support and celebrate their citizens. This year’s OAM theme, Make Your Mark, highlights older adults’ unique and lasting contributions to their communitieseverything from sharing a story with grandchildren to leaving a legacy of community action. In the spirit of this theme, call, text or email an older adult to say thank you for your service.
