Liberica beans saved the coffee biz back in the 1890s when the coffee rust disease struck Arabica bean plantations. So without them, we wouldn't have our beloved Arabica beans. ... Liberica beans have a smoky, woodsy, and bitter taste when roasted and brewed. They're bigger than Arabica and Robusta beans, and can be grown in harsher climates that other coffee bean trees wouldn't be able to grow in. Liberica is the lowest of the low-key coffee beans that make quite delicious coffee. Those that have tried them often say its like nothing they've ever tasted before.
