The California PTA released ten recommendations for safe school site reopenings at our annual Legislation Conference this week, and urge the Governor and the Legislature to adopt them. Please join us in this advocacy. https://capta.org/listen-up-10-things-we-need-to-do-to-reo/
Happy Monday! We want to let you know about a great opportunity to learn more about how to be an effective voice for children. The California PTA is holding its annual Legislation Conference virtually this year on Feb 8-9. The theme is "A Path to Equity." We'll hear directly from legislators and learn about the most pressing issues facing education in California--all centered around equity. More information is at the link. And San Francisco's own Michael Essien (Principal at ...Dr. MLK Jr Middle School) will be speaking! You do need to be a PTA member to attend, but if you aren't already, it's very easy to join. There is a link in the comments with all the school membership links in SFUSD, or you can reach out to the PTA at your school. All are welcome! Questions? Reach out to Michelle Parker at [email protected]. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/california-state-pta-2021-virt See more
SFUSD's Superintendent Vince Matthews just sent a letter to Governor Newsom, along with the Superintendents of LA Unified, Oakland Unified, Long Beach Unified, Fresno Unified, Sacramento City Unified, and San Diego Unified, about the governor's Safe Schools for All plan. This plan helps schools with the resources to reopen safely, but could be stronger. Read the letter at the link!
Education doesn’t end once you walk across that high school graduation stage. Share these two opportunities for scholarships for the graduating seniors at your school! Applications due Feb 1.
