Just released by the Event Horizon Telescope and European Research Council, changing our understanding of the Universe forever. Every single image you've seen b...efore this has been an animation or an illustration. Technically it's not a 'photo' of the black hole itself, it's a direct image of its shadow. But still, this is the most breathtaking thing we've ever seen - made even more incredible by the fact it's so similar to our theoretical simulations. "The history of science will be divided by the time before the image and the time after the image," said Carlos Moedas, quoting Michael Kramer from the European Research Council. Don’t miss the first and only total lunar eclipse in 2019!!! On Sunday 1/20, the moon gets in the penumbra at 9:36pm EST; after an hour around 10:33pm EST, the moon starts moving into the umbra of the Earth’s shadow. Then things start getting more exciting at around 11:43pm EST, when it moves fully inside the umbra and turns a bright red!!!
