Run for the Hungry

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Diego Run for the Hungry team has canceled this year’s race. Even though we won't be gathering together this year to burn some pre-Thanksgiving meal calories in support of local hunger-relief efforts, we hope you will consider supporting our beneficiary, the San Diego Food Bank in other meaningful ways during the holiday season. Every year, we encourage participants to bring nonperishable food items to drop off in the San Diego Food Bank's famous red food drive barrels on race morning. Because we won't be gathering together this year, we are encouraging those who are in a position to give to donate online instead through the San Diego Run for the Hungry’s Virtual Food Drive. San Diego Run for the Hungry beneficiaries, the San Diego Food Bank and its North County Food Bank chapter, have been on the frontlines of the county’s COVID-19 response efforts. Widespread job loss coupled with business and school closures have combined to increase food insecurity among families in communities throughout San Diego County. Thank you to all of your volunteers who helped make today's Packet Pick Up a success! We will be at Road Runner Sports on Copley Drive for about another hour, if you want to pick up your race packet or register for the run! You have from now until 7 p.m. Go! Can't make it? No sweat! You can pick up your packet race morning starting at 6 a.m.

Race beneficiary, the San Diego Food Bank, will have their famous red barrels out on race day! Each barrel holds about 200 pounds, so let’s fill them up with shelf-stable food items like canned tuna or jars of peanut butter and help local families in need this holiday season!
