COVID19 Update: SDRC will be meeting online through the month of April As you may know, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus. The virus has been detected in numerous locations internationally, including in the United States. We understand the growing concern across our communities, and our hearts go out to all those who've been impacted.... At San Diego Referral Club the safety, health and wellbeing of our members is our number one priority. This has been at the center of our conversations every step of the way. With that in mind, we have decided to move our meeting to an on line format through the month of April. We will re-assess the conditions at the end of April in the hopes to returning to in-person meetings. The online meeting is available through the Zoom App and will be available from 6:30am to 8:30am on Wednesdays, with the meeting being in our standard format from 7:00am to 8:00am. We recommend connecting to the Zoom meeting with a computer that has a webcam. If you do not have a computer with a webcam, you can also connect with the Zoom app on your mobile device, using the front facing camera. Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/364218310 Meeting ID: 364-218-310 Dial in: +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose) Meeting ID: 371 714 540 Find your local number: https://zoom.us/u/aX679nA7 For the first meeting, please connect 10-15 minutes before the start of the meeting to give yourself time to download the app and connect. Best Practices Dress to impress. Dress as if you were going to the regular meeting (no pajamas) Arrive on time, stay for the entire meeting and avoid other distractions Connect in a quiet room without children, pets or other background noise Have a list of your referrals, personal connections (one to ones), and closed business. Since we do not have physical slips, we will be taking a verbal tally. We won't let this virus stop our networking and entrepreneurial spirits :)

Good packaging protects the product. Great design builds the brand. Which brands stand out to you as having excellent packaging? We think that the cosmetic industry, in general, does a great job of packaging their products in cool bottles and boxes. #brand #logo #graphicdesigner #designinspiration #adobe #vectorart #letter #characterdesign #ideas #letters #script #illustrationoftheday #flatdesign

Some of the most effective marketing is done through subtle cues, showing that "wow factor" or "making it pop" shouldn't always be a brand's top priority. A subtle signal can take many forms: ... -It could be a color: like Tiffany blue, or Hermes orange -An emblem: like Nike's iconic swoosh or Apple's monochrome Apple -A specific material: Gucci’s recurring use of bamboo, or the Balenciaga studs primarily seen on their bags -Or a way of using that material: Bottega Veneta's interlinking leather - that is one of the primary markers for a brand that has never used a logo. Their motto is: When your own initials are enough. What are some subtle signals you can think of from iconic brands? #brand #logo #graphicdesigner #designinspiration #adobe #vectorart #letter #characterdesign #ideas #letters #script #illustrationoftheday

Working with a creative agency can be ambiguous because most creative work is intangible. There are 7 types of logo designs: but which type of logo is right for you? 1. Emblems - Think Harley Davidson. Emblems are just about the oldest form of logo. Also known as seals or crests, people have been using them since at least the middle ages, if not before. 2. Logotypes - Think Google. Also known as a wordmark, logotypes are logos which are built entirely of the word or words that make up the company’s name. The main focus here is typography, obviously. This style o...f logo strongly ties a brand’s visual identity to the name of the company. 3. Monogram - Think HBO. Monograms aren’t just for towels anymore! Whether it’s because the initials make a cool word, like TASER, or the name is just ungainly, like Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (more commonly known as 3M), it’s easy to think of reasons why your company would go by its initialism or acronym. 4. Brand Marks - Think Starbucks. The imagery you choose for your company logo has to be incredibly iconic for the average customer to recognize and identify it. Often, these logos evolve over time from one of the above types. Think of how the Starbucks logo began as an emblem, but is now simply a drawing of a mermaid. 5. Abstract - Think Nike. Sticking with pictures, but moving away from literal representation, we have the abstract logo. This logo type is used when you want to use an image, but don’t want to be constrained by a literal representation. You can create an abstract logo that evokes a feeling more than a thought. These can be difficult, as not everyone will interpret an image the same way. 6. Mascots - Think Michelin tires. A mascot is different than the above pictures and symbols in that it’s a drawing of a particular person (or, at least, an anthropomorphized character). As human beings, we’re visually attracted to seeing another human face (again, even if it’s really the face of a cutesy cartoon character). A mascot ties that positive feeling to your logo and brand. 7. Combination - Thin #font #typeface #brandingtips #marketingtips #freelancelife #createsomething #design #lettering #type
