Hong Wu Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well! I wanted to inform everyone we have been helping our community near and far during this time of crisis. We have been creating reusable face masks through volunteers from our SoCal Martial Hearts charity organization made up of Hong Wu Kung Fu Tai Chi Academy students, friends and family. We have already raised $500 to purchase the supplies to create the first set of masks, but, we are seeing the demand continue to grow and wanted to r...each out to the larger community. The funds will be used to purchase additional supplies to create more reusable masks. The donation to SoCal Martial Hearts, a registered 501c3 organization, are tax deductible! Please join us in congratulating Grace for her well deserved accomplishments at this years 8th World KungFu Championships! Her journey in Wushu really took an amazing leap this past year starting with a trip to China studying at Coach Qin's old stomping grounds in Jiang Xi. Since then she has focused her effort by putting together training goals with the help and support of her parents and coaches. Her first real feedback of her efforts was at the LA tournament where she com...peted in the advanced category with another Hong Wu Taiji World Champion, Ana. Lets just say, it was close and gave us insight to know what else we needed to work on. Either way, we were ecstatic as coaches to see the improvement from last year where she had only just competed in the Beginner Category! From there we reviewed and re-focused on the most important areas to get her ready for her own first Kung Fu World Championship. Along the way, even with the school work, extracurricular activities as well as injuries, she has been a model student by always "finding a way"; as coaches, we couldn't ask for anything more, for Grace, as a young adult, it is a great lesson in life to see how to manage time and to pursue a skill that will always be hers. And now, through all this, she has come back with a gold and a silver from her Tai Chi events! As it's been noted, the awards are nice, but the important thing is really the journey, and what an amazing journey! Congratulations to all of our Hong Wu Wushu and Tai Chi competitors at the 2019 Los Angeles International Wushu Tournament (LAIWT)! We had our most competitors at this years competition as we continue to share the Chinese culture and legacy of Chinese Wushu\Kung Fu to both young and old! We had a total of 48 competitors and although it was a long day and sometimes a bit chaotic, in the end we hope everyone had a great experience! The tournament is always a highlight for all t...he training the kids do and a great event for them to show their hard work! Our Hong Wu Kung Fu Tai Chi Academy always stand out at competitions, and this year it was no different! we brought back over a hundred medals. And while the medals are nice, the experience of a tournament is also a great teacher to all of the students, coaches and parents, it teaches us about ourselves, and what perserverance, dedication and hardwork can result in!
